NCM Fathom Events and Omniverse Vision Ltd, in association with Glass Slipper Live Events Productions, the Mariinsky Theatre and Cameron Pace Group, the Academy-Award winning team behind Avatar, Hugo, and Life of Pi, present Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece Swan Lake broadcast LIVE* and in RealD 3D in select locations from the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia to select cinema screens nationwide on Thursday, June 6th at 6:30 pm (local time). This special one night event is the only chance to experience this beautiful classic in a whole new dimension.

Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky’s first ballet, tells the story of a princess cursed by an evil sorcerer. The princess is turned into a swan by day and human at night, only to be broken by true love. The ballet has become a classic amongst enthusiasts, and enjoyed by audiences of all ages for more than 100 years.

Mariinsky Theatre History

Located in St. Petersburg, Russia, the Mariinsky Theatre has been providing the world with some of the greatest dancers since 1740.  Great names of ballet like Rudolf Nureyev and Anna Pavlova started at the Theatre’s revered company, which today is recognized as one of the world’s greatest. The Director of the Mariinsky Ballet is Yuri Fateyev. The Mariinsky Theatres has been a world leading brand for hundreds of years – and is followed by other leading opera/ballet theatres such as the Royal Opera House, London and La Scala, Milan. Both the Mariinsky Ballet and Mariinsky Opera came under the management of the Mariinsky Theatre itself, with Valery Gergiev as Director and Artistic Director of the Mariinsky complex comprising of two grand opera houses – one historic, one brand new open since May 2, 2013 and a concert hall.
